In terms of how the system helps users achieve business processes, discuss the impact of your IS on the Organization or on the Users.
The training business area is a vital information system that assist with Air Force work centers track and distribute training tasks to everyone within the shop. As mentioned in previous weeks forums, the Air Force used to track training with handwritten notes which was much more time consuming than our current system as you can imagine. So, the greatest impact the system has is the streamline of communication between the individual, trainer, supervisor, unit training manager, and the rest of the chain of command to have ease of access to the work centers training status.
How are business processes incorporated in your IS to gain a competitive advantage?
As mentioned in the previous question, the automated training system that is training business area is very useful with ensuring our airmen are fully prepared to support and function within the Air Force.
Make three concrete recommendations for improving your information system.
Three improvement areas. Well, training business area is about to be replaced shortly with a more up-to-date information system. Training business area has been around for almost 15-20 years, so it is time for it to be replaced or revamped to meet the needs of an ever-advancing technological world. I think the graphical user interface would be a good start with improving the information system, as mentioned it has been around for a while and I think the GUI has yet to be updated since it was first introduced. Since we are in the process of migrating to a new information system training business area has been majorly bogged down with the number of users accessing it at the one time, so I think having a more robust server to handle the number of users that could potentially access the information system at one time. Thirdly, to be able to drag and drop pdfs, word, excel or other external applications to be able to recognize training that is being conducted in other facets that is not exactly within training business area. I know a lot of work centers use external master training list/plans due to being easier to be able to build these tasks on an excel rather than using the MTP area within the system.
