HRMT605 W5: Orientation and Training
1. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Defend your answer: "Money is the most important tool that a manager has for motivating employees.
2. When is it to an organization's advantage to hire employees who need training, and when is it advantageous to hire employees who are already trained?
When it comes to motivating employees, there is often not one set way of motivating them. Everybody has their own motivational factors that work for them. Money is not always the best tool that managers can utilize to motivate their employees, as not every employee is influenced by extrinsic motivational factors. Public employees' performance at the workplace is influenced by intrinsic factors, such as responsibility, autonomy, interesting and important work, contribution, or fairness (Ciobanu et al., 2019). Many people want the work that they are doing to be meaningful and interesting, otherwise they may feel as though they are doing everything for no reason at all and will often feel like they are leading an unfulfilling worklife.
Hiring employees that need training can have its advantages for organizations. If an organization chooses to hire employees that need training, those employees can often be more eager to learn new processes versus their more experienced counterparts. Those employees may also provide the organization with a fresh perspective. When they are getting trained in their new position, they may also apply what they have learned in their previous workplaces, which could potentially be advantageous for an organization. Hiring untrained employees can provide an organization with a wide variety of diversity of ideas.
Hiring employees that are already trained can also be advantageous for organizations. When an organization hires employees that are already trained, they are hiring employees that they do not have to start at ground zero with, as they will often need little to no training to fill the position they are being hired for. Employees that are already trained are often able to efficiently fill the skills gap within an organization. They can also bring strong communication and leadership skills to the table.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Defend your answer: "Money is the most important tool that a manager has for motivating employees. No it is not.
Money is an important tool in motivation. However, saying that money is the most important tool in motivating the employees is a way of undermining the intrinsic motivators that encourage the people to do their best and work incredibly hard at what they do. Even if the company has an unlimited amount of money, it is not so easy to stipulate the right payment plans for the employees (Chamorro, 2013). Money is needed for survival and for people to lead a comfortable but sometimes, it is good to note that it may never be enough. Employees will find it had to work in a highly toxic environment with the promise of large amounts of money. Research by Harvard Business Review also suggests that the relationship between money and employee satisfaction may not be that strong, because money may not be the first tool that leads to higher engagement of the workers.
2. When is it to an organization's advantage to hire employees who need training, and when is it advantageous to hire employees who are already trained?
It is an advantage to the organization to hire the members of staff who need training because the company has an opportunity to give them the training that is specific to the job and it is highly related to the position, compared to the situation where they have the training from other institutions but it is not specific to the job that they are expected to do in the organization. Initial training of the workers in the organization will also serve as a way of motivating the employees to do their best and to work exceedingly hard in their studies. Getting the new members who are already trained is an advantage to the company specifically because it applies to the firm that has not set aside a lot of money to be used in training the members of staff (Chopra, 2015). The method will be adequate for the organization that needs its workers to hit the ground running.
